The Mentorship Program
The Pre-Health Mentorship Program pairs groups of three to five 1st & 2nd year underclassmen HPA members with experienced 3rd & 4th year HPA upperclassmen mentors. Each HPA Mentorship group meets 4 times per quarter, with one social each quarter that every mentorship group is invited to attend. Our mentors' goal is to help their underclassmen successfully navigate the pre-health track at UCSB. Mentors offer their insight and perspective, while following HPA's standardized mentorship curriculum, about tackling difficult science courses at UCSB, choosing a major, picking a class schedule that is compatible with personal goals, getting involved with research, securing clinical internships, volunteering, and much more.
HPA will be hosting a new cycle of its mentorship program every academic year. Interested mentors and mentees are encouraged to apply to participate in the program at the start of every quarter. Our biggest recruitment for mentors and mentees for the academic year will be at the start of fall quarter each year. Applications will be made available on the website during the recruitment cycle.
Please email with any further questions or for more information on how to apply to become a mentor or mentee.
The HPA Pre-Health Mentorship Program was founded in September 2014 by 2014-2016 two-term HPA President Amir Soltani and 2014-2015 Academic Director Dayna Isaacs. The first trial run of the Pre-Health Mentorship Program took place during Spring Quarter 2015.
