The Pre-Health Mentorship Program pairs a small group of 1st & 2nd year underclassmen HPA members with experienced 3rd & 4th year HPA upperclassmen mentors. Each HPA Mentorship group meets 4 times per quarter, with one social event each quarter that every mentorship group is invited to attend. Our mentors' goal is to help their underclassmen successfully navigate the pre-health track at UCSB. Mentors offer their insight and perspective, while following HPA's standardized mentorship curriculum. Mentors provide help with tackling difficult STEM courses at UCSB, choosing a major, picking a class schedule that is compatible with personal goals, getting involved with research, securing clinical internships, volunteering, and much more.
HPA hosts a new cycle of its mentorship program every Fall and Spring Quarter. Interested mentors and mentees are encouraged to apply to participate in the program at the start of every quarter. Our biggest recruitment for mentors and mentees for the academic year will be at the start of Fall Quarter each year. Applications will be made available here during the recruitment cycle.
